Our Anniversary

I've been out of the loop for a bit just enjoying life with my family. I had to pop in just for a bit to wish my best friend and husband of eighteen years a HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

As I Twittered earlier today, Godly husbands are greatly underestimated and under-appreciated in our society in this day and age. As I married eighteen years ago tonight, I didn't understand the significance of putting God at the head of our marriage. I knew I'd found a great man, but it would take years of growing on both of our parts for us to get to the place we are now, of course, the place where if God doesn't want it for us, then we don't want it either.

I am so humbled and thankful that God had it in His master plan from before the time He formed me that I would be joined with this man, that we would grow this family together. Can you tell I love my husband and Jesus? I do. As I said all those years ago, "I do."

Kerr Mansion Tour Continued

The tour continues at the Kerr Mansion. I took these photos the night of the wedding rehearsal.
We had so much fun exploring!

Here are my two middle sons and my nephew. They are standing in front of a wall in a room that is now one-half of what used to be the Kerr grandchildren's playroom. There is a room on the other side that is the other half. I have to say that this room was huge, and to think it is only half of the original playroom! It is a bit hard to tell in this picture, but the huge playroom was made to resemble a boat or ship. Behind the boys is a door (see the round window?) that leads to a big walk-in closet, if I remember correctly.

Here is Mrs. Kerr. Doesn't she look beautiful?

This used to be Mrs. Kerr's sewing room. Now it has two beds in it...

as well as two beds built into the wall. Unique.

Here is a fireplace in the same room.

There is also a bathroom. Here is the elevated throne.

This heater is just like the one that used to be in my Grandma's house.
It sure brings back memories, so I had to take a picture.

This is a portion of a mural that covers most of one wall in the sewing room.
It is huge and lovely, and very hard to get a photograph of.
(Sorry for the incorrect English!)

Sitting just outside of the sewing room is this poker table. We were told that five (5!) former U.S. Presidents have played poker at this table, which used to sit downstairs.
Hmmm. I wonder what all they wagered.

This lattice wraps part of the stairwell (that is outside the sewing room) and was specially ordered. Unfortunately, I don't remember the lattice's story. However, I do remember that this chandelier was formerly a Belgium streetlamp that Mrs. Kerr fell in love with and had shipped to her home.

This is the kitchenette in the Lyndon B. Johnson room. He stayed there six times, I believe.

In this room downstairs, behind these small doors, lies a tunnel.
It is of course not used anymore.

Okay, enough pics for one day.
More to come, though, of a beautiful wedding and a gorgeous young couple very much in love
(and a very handsome little ring bearer!)

Last Weekend

Okay, in my last post, I asked what this photo shows: The World's ____________ ______________.

The answer: The World's Highest Hill.

Our niece's wedding was held at Kerr Mansion located near Poteau, Oklahoma this past weekend.

(FYI: Do you know how to pronounce Poteau?
Two rhyming syllables, both making the long O sound: Po - toe.)

It is a beautiful place, rich with history. I'll be sharing some of pictures the next few days. These steps actually lead to nowhere, just off the side of the steep hill, but what a view - perfect for picture-taking.

This is looking back up towards the mansion.

Rocks around a tree. I wish I knew what kind they were, maybe volcanic? I really have no idea, but they were very interesting.

Through the glass windows is where the reception was held. See the incredible deck? Lovely.

This was taken with the mansion behind me looking out over the valley below.

Guess who stayed there? President John F. Kennedy! I got to go into the room where he stayed. And believe it or not, he was not the only U.S. President who stayed there.

Here he is with Senator Kerr. I was told that Senator Kerr was going to run for President in the next election had the Senator not died suddenly.

More pictures to come!

Wedding Bracelets, Etc.

First, I just have to share this photo of my baby.

He loves to rinse after brushing his teeth.

Three bracelets I made for my niece's wedding ~
I am still trying to find a way to photograph them in the best way possible.

Bridesmaid bracelet

Maid of honor bracelet

This is the view of the World's __________ __________.

Any ideas? Any guesses? No Googling, please!

This picture was taken on our way to the wedding rehearsal.

I have a lot of fun pictures to share as the wedding was held in a historical location.
I hope you'll join me tomorrow as I post more.

If I Won The Lottery

Cute, no?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I just got back from the dentist to have a crown replaced. If I won the lottery or was given say, a million dollars or so, the one thing I would do for myself is to have my teeth fixed to perfection.
I would not go with cosmetic surgery or spend a ton of money on clothes, jewelry, or shoes (despite the cute ones shown above.) I am a tightwad and proud of it. I would, however, do my teeth.
It's shaping up to be a beautiful day here. There is a small chance of storms, and if it does storm, they would likely be severe, but there is no way to tell by looking outside.
It is a perfect
summer spring day.
It would be even more perfect if I won the lottery. lol
